John Alexander Wedding Photography John takes the most fantastic photographs that we will treasure forever. He was kind, supportive, putting everyone at ease and so discrete that many of our favourite photographs taken at our wedding we didn't even notice being taken. His photographs have a lovely relaxed style that really tol the story of our day - I've lost track as to the number of couples I have recommended John to since our wedding.

I was looking for some photography classes in the Oxford area, I was particularly interested in learning more about the technical side of photography. I came across John's website whilst searching on Google. I was immediately impressed with his work and loved his style of imagery. I booked a 1:1 session with John, and I am so pleased I did. The knowledge he shared with me has been so beneficial to my work and to the growth on my photography business.

There wasn't anything John didn't know, or couldn't help me with. I learnt so much in the short time I spent with him. We spoke about the theoretical side of things and then followed that through with practical exercises, this really helped me to learn and remember what he had taught me.

I am fortunate enough to have been commissioned by private and commercial clients, on projects all over the world, covering many different genres of photography. I feel that it is the range of skills acquired during these projects, that has given me a unique perspective on the world, which in turn, has moulded the style of my photography.

read more › Almost all of my images are created with natural light, which has a 'feel' that can't be matched by any flash or other artificial lighting systems. This allows me to shoot unobtrusively and quickly, creating genuine, documentary-style images, which capture those precious moments and tell the story of your wedding day exactly as it happened. It's not all about those beautiful tender moments though, I love to capture those comedic moments too. Some of my favourite images are the ones I could never have expected.

read more › I'm so excited to offer my new style of family portraiture called, 'This is us'. The photographs are taken in a documentary-style, capturing a morning/evening/day in your own home. This fun idea creates a charming set of images capturing all the little nuances of your daily life. What's really unique about this style of shoot is that nothing is choreographed. That's the point. I photograph the things that may seem mundane and repetitive, but really, they're special to that time with your kids at that age.

My editorial photographs are regularly featured in magazines including; The Field, Country Life, Digital Photographer Magazine, Shooting Times, and many more. My images have taken many forms; super-sized fine-art prints for large office spaces, online advertising campaigns, high-end product packaging for leading brands and commercial websites. Commercial Drone Pilot: I am a fully licensed drone operator and film-maker enabling me to produce high production value films with the addition of an aerial perspective.

I aim to tell the story of your day by varying the composition, angles, and lenses used to give a unique and wide-ranging selection of shots. This approach produces natural, unposed shots that each gun can take away as a memorable record of their day. I create an online album on my website where your guests are able to buy individual prints, collage, or purchase a photobook of the day.

Whether you have never switched on your camera, are an aspiring professional, or would just like to improve a certain aspect of your photography, I give you individual, intensive guidance throughout the day. My approach to my individual photography tuition is it needs to be practical. That's why I set fun 'mini missions' throughout the day for you to put your new knowledge into practice.

read more › Spring is my favourite time of the year to photograph and some of my favourite things to photograph are newly born spring lambs and Bluebells. We first go through our camera controls over a cup of tea and discuss the skills we are aiming to improve in the workshop. Once we are all happy with our camera settings, we head into a local Bluebell wood. Here, I'll show you how to use the available natural light to take creative images of the bluebells. The skills learned from the wood transfer directly into photographing the lambs.

The open enclosures enable us to get unbelievably close to all the animals which provides the potential for amazing photos. I am not pretending to be a wildlife photographer (I'm not even close to being patient enough), the park just provides the best possible playground to practice your new camera skills. You'll probably be practicing your ISO taking photos of Ian (yes Ian!) the baby white Rhino!

I've always been mad about photographing animals but I'm far too impatient to be a full-blown wildlife photographer! I've got two dogs, Bally and Milly, which I have vague control over, and one of my favourite things to do is to photograph them. Now you can join in on the fun! There are only 10 places available as I would like to give each of you one-to-one tuition throughout the day. This workshop focuses on dogs but the skills learned can be used in many other genres of photography.

Oxford is a beautiful city, with its beautiful architecture and vibrant activity. We first meet up over some tea and coffee and talk through all your camera's controls and ignore the 1000's of automatic settings you don't need! Then, I give in-the-field tutorials with a few mini-missions throughout the day to put all the theory into practice!
