I spent a whole day here and could have spent longer, its a lovely home foremost but when you need to pull out all the stops to impress 50 guests for dinner you can do so without resorting to a marquee - whether you can get rid of them at the end of the night is a different matter.

read more › From the 14th Century Bridgewick Hall I travelled a few miles up the road to Tiptree but in so doing I travelled nearly 700 years because this one is bang up to date and recently completed - the impecabbly finished Marsh House is everything you expect an architecturally designed dream home to be. Yes its white, theres lots of glass and polished stone and every bell and whistle is built in. I want it. But as I'm not in the market I'll generously let you get a look in.

read more › This fantastic building which in parts dates back to the 14th century has been home to the current owners for over 30 years, and its easy to see why - its surely been an idyllic place to raise a family and to entertain both family and friends. Theres something very reassuring about a home that has stood for hundreds of years, although at times its hard not to think about the many hundreds of people that have passed through. There is certainly plenty for any keen historian to get their teeth into!

With geothermal and air source heat pumps this impressive home should be relatively economical to heat, combine this with the extensive use of reclaimed materials and you can rest assured that your carbon footprint is smaller than most normal houses let alone 2m ones.
