Five Valleys Photography My studio is based in Stroud, and over the years have established a reputation for providing high-quality photographic services in a fast changing technical environment, in Gloucestershire and beyond - in some fields we have been market leaders - being the 1st - pushing the boundaries - being innovative. So if there is a photography related service you don't see listed on the site, please give me a call.

I like to contribute as I work and invite others to join me, so I currently support The Lullaby Trust, which provides help and support to families who have suffered as a result of cot death, and the Guide Dogs, which I have supported since I was a child going door to door, collecting milk bottle tops. If you would like to join me - give me a call - you get excellent photo's, and help the charities.
Highlights

read more › We like our portrait sittings to be fun, and we can take our time, so everyone is relaxed, and we can concentrate on providing you with wonderful images to treasure for a lifetime. We have enough studio space to cater for large groups. We have a range of styles, varying the lighting, backgrounds and props, and do feel free to bring a change or two of clothes for different looks. If you have a special event or anniversary, new-born or graduate or family gathering, it's a memory worth recalling. Also, do feel free to discuss what you want before you come, and have an idea of where you want the photo's to hang in your home.

read more › PASSPORTS - phone us for an appointment - we do social distancing and all contact surfaces disinfected. We are digitally compliant for the new UK & Irish on-line Passport ID Photo Codes - no more guessing if the photo will be accepted - it's authenticated on line, right here in the studio - and your unique code is securely sent to your email address for you to finish your passport application on line, at home.

read more › More and more companies and individuals are wanting faces on websites as a friendly way of introducing themselves or their staff to their clients and potential clients. Professionally arranged portraits for these purposes are not expensive, look a lot better than a cell-phone selfie, and can be done very quickly, either at our studio, or if you have 10 or more people to do at a time, I can come to you with a small portable studio arrangement.

read more › Our range of traditional and contemporary style portraits offers creative, quality photography at highly competitive prices with packages specifically designed to suit all tastes and pockets. Our online proofing and ordering system means that parents have access to a much larger range of options and packages - and if they have children in other classes, the parents can make up their own packs by mixing their choice of photo's from the different classes.

read more › Much of our product photography is for website marketing, but the exhibition sector is at least as important. Many feel that they can DIY for the internet as most of it is fairly low resolution, but it still has to be properly lit, and sharp. We still aim high for quality whether it is small items in the studio, or a factory visit, travelling is never a problem. Lighting for jewellery and other small items often call for specialist lighting set-ups, and I find the accuracy of fibre-optics particularly useful.

read more › Lighting - the flash on the camera will give you a bright centre, (maybe with a very bright reflection), with the edges trailing off into shadow. You could choose to use daylight, but do you use a sunny day - morning or noon or afternoon. Focusing - The common lens focuses on any given distance from the lens to the subject, in an arc at which the lens is the centre, because of this, parts of the artwork tend to be less sharp than other parts, as the centre of your painting is nearer to the lens than the edges are.

read more › We provide image restoration, that is, repairing old and damaged photo's, photo-manipulation or editing images which have items you want removing, or sometimes adding objects or people to photo's supplied, or a combination for each. This usually means copying or scanning the supplied original and removing cracks, dust and other flaws, then having a new photo printed from the edited image. Occasionally I have found that a surprising amount of detail can be recovered, but this is not always the case.

read more › These prints are hand produced black and white prints produced in the 'old fashioned' silver halide way - exposed by enlarger, developed, washed, fixed and washed again for an authentic, 'proper', archival original black and white print - all done in the traditional darkroom way. It's probably worth phoning first or just drop the film through the door with name and phone number, and a note saying which service you would like. A deposit of 5 is required with each film.
