This unique exhibition brings together artists from the contemporary art scene who use retro and vintage source material, referencing the last few decades in a fresh way. The exhibition is vibrant and often tongue in cheek, with eight exciting contemporary artists showing prints, sculpture, paintings and photography. The fifties, in terms of art and design, have not aged a bit.
Many of our artists are inspired by this era and we ourselves have a magnetic attraction for vintage furniture from this period. This exhibition, consisting of works by Marcel Ceuppens, Patrick Lajoie, Nicholas Dubreuille and Richard Heeps, will be complimented by pieces of furniture that will instantly plunge you into this post-war time, resolutely modern and timeless.
I have thick files full of thirty years of contact sheets (the size for size positive image of the negative), my life's work. These days I love looking through them with my iphone as a sketching tool and sharing images on Instagram as I reappraise them.
