I'm Johnny, a Lancashire-based photographer with a BA (Hons) Degree in Film, Video & Photoraphic Arts and over twenty-five years of experience. I established Beanphoto in 2004, and I specialise in what I like to call 'people photography'. I shoot portraits, weddings, events, gigs, festivals, commissioned work and more. I understand that every client is different and I adapt my style accordingly, be it clean and simple portraits, or more quirky shots that require more creativity.

An ongoing professional and personal project, Writer Portraits is a collection of portraits of writers, begun when I worked at Lancaster Litfest and was asked to take the author portraits for Litfest's publishing arm, Flax Books, and continued thereafter.

A portrait shoot with me is about as far from a stuffy studio experience as you can get.
No studio, no lights, no plain backdrops.
Instead, I'm an environmental portraitist.
I like to shoot on location for natural-looking portraits.
We could be outdoors at a favourite place of your own choice or one of mine., or we could be inside your home or a favourite building.
Either way, I will help you to feel relaxed and comfortable for some truly lovely portraits!
